New iPad Pro 10.5" In The Works

Apple may have an ace up its sleeve in the form of a mid-sized Pro tablet, designed to woo the increasingly lucrative business and education sectors. This is the news setting the tech world abuzz as renowned KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo outlines his predictions for what the tech giant is likely unveil in the coming months.
Noted for his accuracy when it comes to all things Apple, Kuo recently released a report predicting a third addition to the Pro range is likely in 2017, along with upgrades to the current 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch models.
It will come in the form of a 10.5-inch tablet designed to cater to Apple's growing consumer base in the education and business sectors.
"If the iPad comes in a larger size, such as a 10.5-inch model, we believe it will be helpful to bid for tenders within the commercial and education markets. As a result, we expect Apple to launch a 10.5-inch iPad Pro in 2017," he says.
Kuo believes the 10.5 will not only play to the company's newest market strengths but will also be part of a Pro range refocus. This would see the 12.9-inch and 10.5-inch become the prestige models while the 9.7 would fall into a more budget friendly, less high-spec category. So what would be in the 10.5 box?
Double digit processor
Amidst the hot tips doing the rounds is that the 12.9 and 10.5 would pack some extra processing power. They would boast the latest A10x processors while the 9.7-inch would settle for the already sufficient A9x variety.
Double digit iOS
Continuing on from Kuo's speculation, MacWorld believes the Pro 10.5 would also carry the latest operating system in the form of the recently unveiled iOS10. Apple announced this system upgrade at the WWDC earlier this year with a final public release expected this month.
It is hoped any 10.5 and the 12.9 would embrace this new software and hit the market with it pre-installed. IOS10 would bring not only new and updated features but cater to better functionality.
The 9.7, but better
Coupled with a better processor and operating system, it's tipped any 10.5 would embrace the most popular elements of the 9.7's refined innovation. These could include a:
• 12mp rear-facing camera
• 5mp front-facing camera
• 4K video recording
• Live photos
• TrueTone display
• 32GB cellular buying option
The general consensus is Apple will hold off until next year to release any new additions to the Pro range. This is Kuo's prediction and others agree. It's based on the theory Apple is unlikely to upset clientele of the 9.7 range by releasing a newer, shinier model too soon.
In a market where inches equal price tag, size clearly matters. A 10.5-inch tablet could be Apple's newest innovation. But if it does take the middle ground, pundits are sure to expect big things from Apple's middle man.
