iPad Pro

As one of the world’s most popular tablet manufacturers, Apple naturally makes the list of this year’s best tablets, courtesy of their recent iPad Pro 2021.
In addition to all the usual high-spec features of a super-fast chip, great screen resolution and the Apple iPad operating system, this year’s iPad Pro also features 5G compatibility, a Thunderbolt port and improved camera array.
It’s available in an 11-inch model (from US$799), and a 12.9-inch version (US$1099).

iPad Air 4

Released in late 2020, the iPad Air 4 saw a major overhaul of the model’s popular design.

The latest Air now takes many of its design cues from the iPad Pro while packing some serious power into the new A14 bionic chip that drives it.

The inclusion of the A14 chip has resulted in increased power, efficiency and a 40 per cent faster CPU, while the latest model also comes with the welcome addition of USB-C.

That makes it a worthy alternative to the iPad Pro with a much more budget friendly price tag. The iPad Air 4 retails from US$599.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7

Available in two versions (the S7 and the S7+), Samsung’s high-spec tablets enjoyed a warm welcome when they hit the market in September 2020.

The current model is available in two sizes, with the Tab S7 featuring an 11-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, USB-C, and dual rear cameras, along with front-facing lens.

The Tab S7 Plus offers even further features, including a 12.4-inch OLED screen that TechRadar notes is “gorgeous”.

Together, these models feature the fastest processors currently available for the Android platform, and according to reviewers, they’re giving Apple and its iPad a decent run for their money.

Surface Pro X

Microsoft has been dedicating some serious energy to their Surface line-up, with the flagship model being the Surface Pro X.

Featuring the Windows operating system, it offers a 13-inch screen, two USB-C ports, a new chipset and compatibility with both the Surface Pro X keyboard, and Surface Pen.

The Surface Pro X is available with either 8GB or 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage, and retails from US$999.

Surface Pro 7

Rumour has it Microsoft is set to soon unveil its eight revision of this device, but the Surface Pro 7 of 2019 still stacks up in terms of quality business tablets.

The Pro 7 offers a 12.3-inch screen, has an inbuilt kick-stand, and comes in a variety of configurations starting out at 4GB RAM and 128Gb storage and extending all the way up to 16GB RAM with 1TB storage.

It features both USB-C and USB-A ports, and has a battery life of up to 10.5 hours.

Microsoft Surface Go

As the most affordable tablet in the Microsoft line-up, the Surface Go 2 offers a high-quality tablet with Windows capability.

The Go 2 has a 10.5-inch screen size, comes complete with Windows 10, caters to the Office 365 Suite, features a touchscreen and is compatible with a type cover and the Surface Pen.

One major feature of the device is its ports. The Go comes with a proprietary charging port in addition to USB-C, which can also be utilised for charging.

Microsoft spruiks the Go as having 10 hours battery life while storage on offer includes two standard options, kicking off with a 64GB eMMC drive or a 128GB solid state drive (SSD).

Meanwhile, RAM in the Go is available in 4GB or 8GB. In terms of grunt, the Go comes with an Intel Pentium Gold Processor 4415Y or the 8th Gen Intel Core m3 Processor.
